Ski Freeze Memphis

CHECK OUT SKI FREEZE 2024!

Meet Branson!

Branson is a 9-year-old from Munford, TN who is diagnosed with Fabry’s Disease. It is a rare inherited disorder. When he is not at school and studying, Branson likes to ride his bike, listen to Jelly Roll, watch football and cheer on the Memphis Grizzlies.

When we asked Branson about his dream, he gave it some serious thought. Finally, he decided he wanted a backyard cabin of his very own. A place to hang out with his family and friends. A place to just be a kid.

The proceeds from Ski Freeze 2024 will be used to grant his Dream. Please come down and join us New Year’s Day to help us make Branson’s Dream Come True!

Paris' Dream Granted!

Paris, a 13-year-old from Cordova, TN, is diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. When we visited Paris, it was easy to tell by her smile that her dream was to experience the magic of Walt Disney World. Paris’ Dream was sponsored by the Collierville Ski Club from a portion of the proceeds raised through Ski Freeze 2023.

On March 11, 2023, Paris and her family boarded a flight to Orlando. Joining her Dream Trip was Tiffany (mom), Anthony (dad), and brothers Marquavion & Anthony. She and her family were our guests at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee and were able to visit many of the theme parks during their 6 night/7 day Dream Trip.

We want to say a special thank you to the Collierville Ski Club for their continued support and generosity. Also, thanks to Dream Factory volunteers Cathy Robertson, and Margo & Brian Juengling for managing Paris’ Dream Trip.

EVENT INFO

The Collierville Ski Club’s 47th Annual Ski Freeze to benefit the Dream Factory of Memphis (www.dreamfactorymemphis.org) is still on for New Years Day morning at 11AM. However, we are disappointed to say that the water levels in the Wolf River Channel are not high enough to allow for safe waterskiing.

Each year, we count on your participation to make a sick child’s dream come true. This year is no exception. WE CANNOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU! Your $30 donation still gets you a Ski Freeze T-Shirt and Goodie Bag.

Please make the trip to Mud Island to support the Dream Factory of Memphis.

ABOUT US

Started from a dare.....

The Ski Freeze was dreamed up 43 years ago on a dare (and winter boredom) from some of the founding members of the River City Ski Club. It was initially held on Kilowatt Lake in North Memphis. Later, it moved to the Wolf River channel between Mud Island and the Cobblestones. Only once did the Ski Freeze not take place exactly on New Year’s Day, when the water had iced over in Wolf River. It was subsequently moved to a private lake in February.

Over the years, Ski Freeze has raised over $400,000 for the Dream Factory.
After a few years, the River Ski Club decided to have their crazy antics become a community oriented event and started each year to raise funds for non-profits. In 1988, they chose the Dream Factory of Memphis as their charity of choice and it has remained that way ever since. The Dream Factory of Memphis is a non-profit, 100% volunteer organization that grants dreams to critically and chronically ill children ages three through eighteen. In 2007, the River City Ski Club was closed. Fortunately, the Collierville Ski Club was formed that same year and has been the sponsor and key organizer of this event. Some of the original skiers from 35 years ago are in this club and participate annually in the Ski Freeze.

Over the years, Ski Freeze has raised over $400,000 for the Dream Factory. Each year, the Dream Factory selects a child to receive their dream from the funds raised at this event. The event is open to the public. If you are a skier or not, we invite you to come down and be a part of the day’s activities. Whether you want to cheer on the participants, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate, or bid on some of our great auction items, there is something for everyone to do.
