How to Participate
Ready to take the plunge for a great cause? Ski Freeze 2026 welcomes waterskiers, wakeboarders, and barefoot skiers of all experience levels! Simply preregister online to secure your spot and help us support the Dream Factory of Memphis.
Your $30 donation gets you one pull behind a boat provided by Boat Center Memphis. All participants receive a commerative long-sleeve t-shirt. Participants must be at least 12 years old. All minors under 18 need a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. Safety is our top priority—life jackets are required for everyone on the water.
Don’t have your own gear? No worries! Limited equipment is available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your family and friends—there’s plenty of fun, food, and excitement for spectators, too!

Is it safe to participate in Ski Freeze 2026?
Safety is our top priority! All participants are required to wear life jackets, and our event is staffed with experienced volunteers and water safety personnel. The Mississippi River conditions are closely monitored for everyone’s well-being.
All skiers, wakeboarders, and barefooters must follow official safety rules.


What do I need to bring if I’m skiing or wakeboarding?
Bring your own wetsuit, life jacket, and any personal equipment you prefer. Limited gear may be available on-site, but we recommend coming prepared for the chilly river conditions!

Can I attend as a spectator?
Absolutely! Spectators are welcome at Mud Island to cheer on participants and enjoy the festive atmosphere. There’s no admission fee, and families are encouraged to join the fun.
Dress warmly and bring blankets or chairs for comfort.


How do I support the Dream Factory if I can’t participate?
You can still make a big impact by donating! Every contribution helps grant Dreams for local children facing critical illnesses.
Do I need to register in advance?
Preregistration is highly encouraged for all participants to streamline check-in and ensure you receive an event t-shirt.


Where and when does the event take place?
Ski Freeze 2026 is held on January 1st at Mud Island, Memphis, TN. Check-in begins at 10:30 AM, and the first skier hits the river at 11 AM! Located by the South end boat ramp (by the Amphitheater…see arrow).
Arrive early for parking and best viewing spots.
Where do the donations go?
All proceeds benefit the Dream Factory of Memphis, helping grant Dreams for children in the local community who are facing critical illnesses.
